And finally, after eight years of darkness, a new dawn of hope... I couldn't be in Washington in person, but this man definitely has to be the photo of the day (even via the television screen).

- Long Way Round, Long Way Down, Race to Dakar, By Any Means - a series of books by Ewan McGregory and Charley Boorman, outlining their adventures all over the world - a fun indulgent read that makes you want to pack your bags and hit the road looking for adventure
- The Time Traveller's Wife (Audrey Niffenegger) - a brilliant love story for those who don't savour the sappy stuff. Persevere past the first few pages, I promise it will be worth it!
- Tara Road (Maeve Binchy) - the heartwarming novel genre taken to new heights that I suggest will impress even the most hard nosed crime/mystery reader
